Quick Answer

Choose Groomsoft if: You want the lowest bill. For a normal solo van it is about $55 to $61 a month against MoeGo's $99 once you pass MoeGo Basic's 200-text allowance, and a two-groomer salon pays about $45 against $79. Add vans or a third groomer and the gap widens to $80 to $190 a month, because Groomsoft bills the business once and MoeGo bills every van and location.

Choose MoeGo if: The calendar is the business and you want the most complete tool to fill it: abandoned-booking recovery, marketing campaigns, Reserve with Google for salons, commission payroll, 24/7 support and one-on-one onboarding. You pay a premium at every size — the question is whether those tools book enough extra grooms to cover it.

The Short Version

At list price, MoeGo is the most expensive grooming software we cover, and Groomsoft is the cheapest. So unlike most matchups on this site, there is no crossover to hunt for at a normal volume. Groomsoft is cheaper for every realistic grooming business, van or salon, solo or fleet. The useful questions are how much cheaper, and whether what MoeGo sells is worth the difference.

How much depends almost entirely on shape. A part-time solo groomer who stays under MoeGo Basic's 200 texts pays nearly the same on both. A full-time solo van pays roughly $40 a month more on MoeGo, because MoeGo's one-click route optimization and bigger text allowance both start on the $99 Growth plan. Every van or location after the first adds a full MoeGo subscription and adds only text messages on Groomsoft — so a three-van fleet is about $106 against $297, a gap of roughly $2,300 a year.

One detail runs the other way. MoeGo's help center says it "counts outgoing text messages," so client replies are free. Groomsoft deducts every message "sent or received" from your text pack, and at one reply per appointment that is a quarter of your texting bill. It matters a lot in Groomsoft vs Pawfinity. Here it barely registers, because the MoeGo plans most businesses end up on — Growth at $99 per van or $149 per location — cost $59 to $119 more than Groomsoft before a single text is sent.

So this is not really a price decision. Groomsoft is a lean, dependable scheduler with good mobile tools. MoeGo is a growth platform. If you would use MoeGo's booking recovery, campaigns, payroll and support, the premium can pay for itself. If you would not, Groomsoft does the core job for a third of the price.

Two rows do most of the work. Billed per van or location decides how fast the gap grows, and route optimization explains why a solo mobile groomer usually cannot stay on MoeGo's $49 plan: the tool most van groomers buy MoeGo for starts at $99.

What You Actually Pay

Both vendors bundle some texts and charge for the rest, so write out each bill in full first.

MoeGo publishes separate price lists for mobile and salon. Mobile is Basic $49 a month for one team member and 200 texts per van; Growth $99 per van with unlimited team members and 900 texts per van; Ultimate $159 per van, which adds unlimited automated messages, a branded phone number, Review Booster and live Zoom support; and custom Enterprise. Salon is Basic $79 for up to two members and 300 texts per location; Growth $149 per location with unlimited members and 1,350 texts; Ultimate $239 per location; and Enterprise. Extra texts come in add-on packs that "never expire," but the pack prices are not published. And MoeGo's help center says it "counts outgoing text messages," with two-way conversations using credits "based on the number of outgoing SMS segments" — so client replies do not count.

Groomsoft is $29.95 a month for a grooming shop and $39.90 for a mobile groomer, with unlimited users, customers and pets. Monthly billing includes 100 free texts and 100 free email reminders. Beyond that you buy packs: 100 for $10, 500 for $25, 1,000 for $45, 5,000 for $200 and 10,000 for $350. And its pricing page says "every text message sent or received is deducted from your total."

The figures below assume three texts sent per appointment — reminder, confirmation and ready-for-pickup — plus one client reply, which Groomsoft charges for and MoeGo does not. Groomsoft is priced at its 500-pack rate under about 700 billable messages a month and its 1,000-pack rate above that. MoeGo is priced at the cheapest plan whose published allowance and team limit cover the workload:

Your setup MoeGo Groomsoft Cheaper
Part-time van, ~60 appts (180 sent) $49 (Basic, fits 200 texts) $46.90 ($39.90 + $7) Even — but Basic has no one-click route optimization
Full-time solo van, ~130 appts (390 sent) $99 (Growth), or $49 plus unpublished text packs $60.90 ($39.90 + $21) Groomsoft by ~$38
Busy solo van, ~250 appts (750 sent) $99 (Growth) $80.40 ($39.90 + $40.50) Groomsoft by ~$19
2 vans, ~260 appts (780 sent) $198 (2 × Growth) $82.20 ($39.90 + $42.30) Groomsoft by ~$116
3 vans, ~390 appts (1,170 sent) $297 (3 × Growth) $105.60 ($39.90 + $65.70) Groomsoft by ~$191
2-groomer salon, ~100 appts (300 sent) $79 (Basic, fits 300 texts) $44.95 ($29.95 + $15) Groomsoft by ~$34
3-groomer salon, ~250 appts (750 sent) $149 (Growth — Basic caps at 2 members) $70.45 ($29.95 + $40.50) Groomsoft by ~$79
5-groomer salon, ~400 appts (1,200 sent) $149 (Growth) $97.45 ($29.95 + $67.50) Groomsoft by ~$52

Four conclusions come out of that table.

One: MoeGo Basic is only a real option for a part-time groomer. Two hundred texts is about 66 appointments at three texts each, and the Basic mobile plan allows one team member and leaves out one-click route optimization. Below that line, MoeGo and Groomsoft cost about the same, $47 to $49. Above it, you either buy add-on packs at prices MoeGo does not publish or move to Growth at $99. A full-time solo van doing five or six grooms a day will be there by the second week of the month.

Two: a single van never reaches a crossover. Groomsoft's cost climbs with every text and every reply, and MoeGo Growth's does not — but at the 1,000-pack rate Groomsoft does not reach $99 until about 350 appointments a month, which is 16 grooms a day for one person. By then MoeGo's 900 texts are used up too. Counting replies costs Groomsoft about $6 a month at 130 appointments. It is real money, just not enough to change the answer.

Three: the second van decides it for good. MoeGo's Growth plan is priced per van, and Basic cannot run a second one — it allows one team member. So van two adds $99 on MoeGo and about $21 of texts on Groomsoft. A three-van fleet is roughly $297 against $106, which is about $2,300 a year, and every added van widens it by another $75 to $80 a month. One hedge on Groomsoft's side: its mobile grooming page describes multiple vans and groomers in one account, with a report showing "who drove what grooming van and when," but its pricing page does not spell out fleet terms. Confirm that in writing before you build a fleet on it.

Four: in a salon, the third groomer is the expensive one. MoeGo's $79 salon Basic plan covers two team members and 300 texts. Hire a third groomer and you move to Growth at $149, a $70 jump for one hire. Groomsoft never charges per user, so the same hire costs only the texts that groomer's clients generate. Within MoeGo's published allowances — up to 1,350 texts, about 450 appointments per location — there is no volume at which Groomsoft becomes the more expensive salon option. For how these line items compare across the whole market, see what grooming software really costs.

MoeGo Ultimate changes the texting side but not the verdict. At $159 per van or $239 per location it makes eligible automated messages — reminders, booking confirmations, pickup notices — unlimited, so only your two-way conversations use credits. That is valuable if you text heavily, but a single van would need close to 700 appointments a month before its Groomsoft bill reached $159.

What MoeGo's Premium Actually Buys

For a typical solo groomer the premium is about $40 a month. For a small fleet or a three-groomer salon it is $80 to $190. Here is what that money pays for.

Groomsoft covers the core job, and its mobile tools are strong. Scheduling by groomer with conflict alerts and a waiting list, two-way texting, client and pet profiles with vaccination tracking and signable release forms, online booking, payment processing, Google Calendar sync, MailChimp email marketing and bulk texting, and a reporting suite that covers sales, expenses, tips, commissions and time clock hours. Mobile groomers get route optimization, automatic mileage logging for tax time, satellite and street views for checking parking before you arrive, and a tool that finds pets overdue for a groom near your stops. For a van, that is most of what MoeGo's Growth plan is bought for, at $39.90 instead of $99.

MoeGo's extras are about filling the calendar and running a team. Starting on Growth, you get abandoned-booking recovery — MoeGo's "Leads & Abandon tracking" follows up on clients who start an online booking and leave — plus marketing campaigns with discounts, an intelligent waitlist, advanced CRM, custom pricing that flows through to invoices and compensation, and multi-location sync. Salon Growth adds staff shift management, commission and payroll, and Reserve with Google, so clients can book straight from Google Search and Maps. Every plan includes digital agreements, no-show protection with card-on-file, prepayment and pre-authorization, integrated card processing, 24/7 support and one-on-one onboarding. Ultimate adds unlimited automated messages, Review Booster, a branded phone number and live Zoom support.

A useful way to think about it: MoeGo's premium only pays off if it earns you money, not just saves you time. At a $75 average groom, one extra booking a month — from a recovered online booking, a Google search or a rebooking campaign — covers a solo van's $38 premium. A three-van fleet needs about three extra grooms a month, roughly one per van, to cover $191. If you do not think you will use those tools, that is the answer.

Where Groomsoft Pulls Ahead

Where MoeGo Pulls Ahead

The Question That Settles It

Skip both pricing pages and answer three things in order.

First: how many vans or locations will you run in the next year? If it is more than one and money is tight, choose Groomsoft. Each extra van or location adds $99 to $149 on MoeGo's Growth plan and adds only texts on Groomsoft, and no amount of text volume closes that.

Second, for a solo van or a small salon: would you actually use MoeGo's growth tools? Be honest about abandoned-booking follow-ups, marketing campaigns and Google booking. If your calendar is already full through rebooking and word of mouth, Groomsoft does the scheduling, reminders and routing for about a third of the price. If you are still building a client list, MoeGo's tools are designed for exactly that stage, and one or two extra grooms a month pay for them.

Third, for salons: how many groomers? Two fits MoeGo Basic at $79. The third forces $149. If you are about to hire, price MoeGo at Growth, not Basic. If you pay groomers on commission and want payroll run in the software, that is a MoeGo Growth feature, not a Groomsoft one.

Whichever way you go, export your client and pet data before you cancel anything. MoeGo offers data transfer and Groomsoft offers free migration, but photos and older appointment history are what usually get lost when you switch. And if no-shows are the problem you are really trying to solve, both handle reminders well — see our guide to reducing grooming no-shows.

Bottom Line

MoeGo and Groomsoft sit at opposite ends of the market, and the arithmetic reflects that. Groomsoft is cheaper for every realistic grooming business. The gap is small for a part-time groomer, about $40 a month for a full-time solo van, and $80 to $190 a month once you add a van, a location or a third salon groomer, because MoeGo bills each one and Groomsoft does not.

MoeGo's case is not price. It is the tools for filling a calendar and managing a team, plus the support behind them. If you will use them, a few extra grooms a month cover the difference. If you will not, you are paying MoeGo prices for Groomsoft's job. Confirm current rates with both vendors before signing — especially MoeGo's add-on text pack prices and Groomsoft's fleet terms, the two figures neither vendor publishes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MoeGo or Groomsoft cheaper?

Groomsoft, for every realistic grooming business. It costs $29.95 a month for a shop or $39.90 for a mobile groomer, with unlimited users and 100 free texts, while MoeGo starts at $49 for a single mobile groomer and $79 for a salon and charges per van or per location from its $99 Growth plan up. A full-time solo van runs about $61 a month on Groomsoft against $99 on MoeGo Growth, a three-groomer salon about $70 against $149, and a three-van fleet about $106 against $297. The two only cost the same for a part-time groomer who stays within MoeGo Basic's 200 texts a month.

Does MoeGo charge for text messages clients send back?

No. MoeGo's help center says it counts outgoing text messages, and that two-way conversations use credits based on the number of outgoing SMS segments, so client replies are free. Groomsoft works the other way: its pricing page says every text message sent or received is deducted from your pack. At one reply per appointment, that adds about a quarter to Groomsoft's texting bill, or around $6 a month for a solo van doing 130 appointments. It narrows the gap but does not come close to closing it, because MoeGo's Growth plans cost $59 to $119 more than Groomsoft before any texts.

Does Groomsoft have route optimization like MoeGo?

Yes, and it costs less to get it. Groomsoft's $39.90 mobile plan includes route optimization, automatic mileage logging, satellite and street views for checking parking, and a tool that finds overdue pets near your route. MoeGo's $49 Basic plan includes its Smart Schedule, which minimizes driving between appointments as you book, but one-click route optimization and multi-van scheduling start on the Growth plan at $99 per van.

How much does MoeGo cost for a grooming salon?

MoeGo prices salons separately from mobile groomers, and higher. Salon Basic is $79 a month for up to two team members and 300 texts per location. Growth is $149 per location with unlimited team members and 1,350 texts, and adds staff shift management, commission and payroll, and Reserve with Google. Ultimate is $239 per location and adds unlimited automated messages, Review Booster and a branded phone number. Enterprise is custom. Groomsoft charges a salon $29.95 a month regardless of team size.

What happens to the price when I add a second van?

On MoeGo it roughly doubles. Growth is billed per van at $99, and Basic cannot run a second van because it allows only one team member, so two vans cost $198 and three cost $297. On Groomsoft the $39.90 mobile plan stays the same and you pay only for the extra texts, about $82 for two vans and $106 for three at typical volume. Groomsoft's mobile page describes multiple vans and groomers in one account, but its pricing page does not spell out fleet terms, so confirm that in writing before you sign.

Do MoeGo and Groomsoft offer free trials?

Groomsoft does and MoeGo does not publish one. Groomsoft offers a 30-day free demo with no credit card, though text messaging and email reminders are only available to paid subscribers, so you can test the workflow but not the reminders. MoeGo's pricing page offers a demo, an interactive product tour, or buying the Basic plan directly, and it says you can change your plan anytime. Both help you switch: MoeGo offers data transfer services and Groomsoft offers free data migration.
